I'd bet dollars to doughnuts that people in other countries see shit just as often, they just contextualize it as gods or spirits or angels rather than aliens.
I mean, speaking as someone who isn't particularly spiritual, I don't really see those as being less likely than aliens
@SeanAloysiusOBrien Personally I'd characterize them as "more likely" but I could also spend a few hours talking about how we filter all of our experiences through our preconceptions, and wouldn't an angel be an alien by strict definition anyway
I just mean more like, everything we know about science says it should be incredibly impractical (takes hundreds of years to get here) for aliens to ever reach earth
and on the other hand, everything we know about science also doesn't support there being spirits or angels or whatnot
I'm not saying either is impossible, but they'd both be beyond the bounds of our (current) understanding if we ever did see them
and I don't really see either form of "something beyond our current understanding manifesting" as being more or less likely
that is a fair observation though, that if we did ever meet spirits or angels or whatever that they might as well be aliens from another planet
@SeanAloysiusOBrien I *am* a spiritual person so I'm quite comfortable with accepting/asserting the existence of uhhh extra-mortal entities? But I mean. "starseeds" are just sci-fi angels, and there's no compelling reason for aliens to come to Earth unless it's specifically to treat with us, advanced tech = magic, etc
@SeanAloysiusOBrien Sure, agreed -- but a) most Westerners don't understand that and b) those that do, know our current understanding of physics is incomplete.
